Soft Power Fabrique · Singapore

Making soft power a force for economic transformation.

We don’t start from a message to convey, but from a situation to understand and a change to make possible.

Soft Power Fabrique is a Singapore-based soft power studio. It works with governments, companies, institutions, territories and communities, drawing on thirty years of field expertise across Asia, Africa and the Pacific.

A territory drawn in layers: landscapes, production, trade and markets, linked by dotted red threads

We cannot choose what we cannot see.

Often the options are already there, unrecognised. Soft power works on what people notice and the questions they ask. It changes the conditions of choice. It does not make the choice.

Three options A, B and C seen on a flat landscape; once the layers of the territory are drawn, a fourth option D appears

Five ways of working, combined to fit the situation.

Reading

We look at what others pass by, and turn it into a question.

Experience

People taste, handle and see. What was abstract becomes obvious.

Conversation

The right people at one table, with real food for thought.

Teaching

Your teams learn to read economic situations differently, and act on what they discover.

Market development

We design the relationships that turn an opportunity into activity.

Founder’s practice

Where the approach comes from.

Before Soft Power Fabrique, the same way of working was tested with governments, international cooperation agencies, financial institutions and communities.

Opening bank credit to artists with irregular incomes

2020–2022 · Country Director, German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation

Conceived and implemented Cuhlia in 2020 as Country Director of German Sparkassenstiftung (DSIK), bringing together musicians, a financial institution and music-industry professionals to test a different approach to financing irregular incomes.

Nineteen artists released music online and fifteen received loans. Under her leadership, DSIK and its banking partner co-created Pack Progrès, a financial service designed to help people manage irregular earnings and regular expenses. The model was subsequently extended on a trial basis to artisans and other small entrepreneurs.

What if flavour is economic design?
Cuisine as a source of information

What if a dish could show us not only where food comes from, but what an economy has not yet explored?

A dish is more than a collection of ingredients and their origins. It brings together knowledge, functions, relationships and choices. Learning to read them can reveal possibilities worth investigating.

A plate with two ingredients circled in red: not in the original recipe. What did it replace? What changed — a price, a supply, a taste? Why these ingredients in particular?

Recognition Mission

Economic Intelligence & Design

Before deciding, implementing or investing further, make sure you’re solving the right problem.

A product whose difference is not yet a reason to buy. A territory whose resources remain underused. Investments that have yet to deliver their potential. The obstacle may not be where you think it is.

For whom
Companies, industries, territories and institutions exploring new opportunities or facing economic challenges.
When it helps
When a product struggles to find its market, local resources remain underused, investments fail to produce the expected results, or more of the same is no longer enough.
What you gain
A clearer understanding of what already exists, what is holding your initiative back, where the opportunities lie, and which decisions are worth testing next.
Recognition Mission

How a Recognition Mission works

A first conversation

We begin with a complimentary, no-obligation conversation to understand your situation, the decisions you face and what you hope to achieve.

A mission tailored to your situation

The scope, methods, timeframe and fee are agreed before work begins. Depending on the complexity of the assignment, a Recognition Mission may take from a few weeks to three months.

What you receive
Market Recognition Report

A structured assessment of the situation, overlooked value, obstacles, economic relationships and strategic opportunities.

Opportunity Map

A visual representation of the actors, connections and possibilities worth exploring.

Executive Recognition Session

A working session to examine the findings and identify possible next steps.

What comes next. Depending on the findings, the mission may lead to further work. Each subsequent engagement is agreed separately.
